” Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but
cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both
soul and body in hell.” Matthew 10:28
This verse clearly shows that there are many from “those” who can
destroy our body but only “One” who has the power to kill our soul.
What does this mean?
“Those” here refers to Men and “One” to God. But if God has the
capacity of killing the soul, why are there so many people who say that
the Soul is Immortal?
Let me explain. Good people, this parable means that only God can
either grant Eternal life or take it away. He can also revive those who
are spiritually dead. So here, God is telling us to not fear what men, this world can do to
us. To not fear the persecutions. To not fear the sacrifice we need to
make, how much we need to be hurt, how much we need to disobey our own
will, how much we need to sanctify our flesh, our needs, how much we
need to be humiliated. Because all these can only destroy the body but
cannot the soul of the One truly converted in Jesus Christ.
Because the more we are humiliated and resisting, the more we grow in
faith, the more we are exercising to protect our soul. And it is then
that we know the Real God; It is then that he manifests himself;only in
our difficult situations where the world and those there are trying to
knock us down.
BUT, the only thing we need to fear is God not granting us Eternal
life, whereby our soul is thrown in the pit of fire. Fearing his
fierceful Judgement and Eternal Death. Why the verse in Matthew 10:25
mentions the body? Its only because there in hell we shall feel
everything that we are feeling here on earth. The Body is still the
same.
So,people of God, our only main objective is to struggle to find
Eternal life, struggle to do nothing that can snatch from us our crown:
that is do nothing that is contrary to God’s word. To fear not to get or
lose salvation.
Henceforth, for us to inherit the kingdom of God, we need to abandon
the life of sin and confess Jesus Christ in this world. Do not fear how
much you will need to sacrifice, lose, how narrow path you must
travel, how much you would be persecuted, how long the journey shall be
and how heavy the cross would be. Only focus to the only destination:
YOUR SALVATION.
1 Samuel 12:14,15:
“If you fear the Lord and serve and obey him and do not rebel
against his commands, and if both you and the king who reigns over you
follow the Lord your God–good! But if you do not obey the Lord, and if
you rebel against his commands, his hand will be against you, as it was
against your fathers.”
God bless you, Thash
